We knew EJ and Gwen were up to no good on Days of Our Lives, but there was a brief moment when we thought that despite their shady medical research, they were planning on using their findings to make legitimate money. That moment is gone! They aren’t selling the resurrection treatment to companies or using it for the benefit of mankind. They’re selling it on the black market to the highest (and likely least scrupulous) bidders. The rich live forever. Everyone else is toast.

But before they can even get there, EJ let Gwen know (while informing her he’ll be keeping most of the money) that their next step is repeating the miracle to prove that the treatment wasn’t a fluke. That means someone else is going to have to come back and come back fast! So who’s next on the resurrection block? That will probably depend on what EJ needs. Because EJ’s starting to feel a little drunk with power. The whole “Playing God” thing is going a bit to his head.

And since he’s made it clear to Gwen that he’s in the driver seat, you can bet whoever he picks, it will be for his benefit, one way or another!

Peter Blake

It’s pretty much a given that EJ’s got Peter on ice. Dr. Rolf killed him for a reason, and it wasn’t because he kidnapped the DiMera family. And Peter’s appearance was so brief for having such a big role in the kidnappings, that there has to be more to bringing him back. Peter, though, is a loose cannon, and EJ may not want to risk bringing back the man who wanted to wipe out the entire DiMera clan.

Then again, if Kristen’s revenge gets out of hand, EJ could always opt to bring her brother back to mess with her. Their last encounter was not a joyful one. It all depends on how out of control Kristen gets and if Peter seems like a viable alternative to deal with her. Since Kristen’s already murdered a troubled teen and still wants Johnny’s death, she’s getting pretty darn out of control!

Abigail DiMera

When Chad asked if the same treatment could be used on Abigail, EJ did not say no. He just pointed out that it needs a body that was kept preserved and intact to work. Chad assumed that since Abigail’s disappeared, there was no way to do that. He also assumed that Clyde was the one to make the body vanish.

But it could have been EJ. (Or more likely, Dr. Rolf, since we can’t imagine EJ was planning this resurrection business that far back.) Her body could have been swiped and preserved, waiting for a way to bring her back. And if Chad keeps acting all protective and mooning over Cat, EJ could decide it’s time to return his brother’s wife to her — so he can have Cat to himself! Plus, if Gwen does get a say in it, she’d probably push for Abigail — not out of any love lost, but perhaps as a way to make further amends with her family.

Li Shin

This was a bit out of left field, but we appreciate the idea proposed over on Days of Our Lives’ subReddit! Ages and ages ago, we thought that perhaps Li worked behind the scenes with EJ to fake his own death for some nefarious purpose, along with Dr. Rolf’s help. But then… Li turned out to be really, truly dead. And he stayed dead.

But the idea is still there. What if EJ has him on ice? EJ’s stayed away from DiMera, claiming he has his own plans — like making fistfulls of money by selling a resurrection drug on the black market. But Tony seems intent on ousting Johnny from DiMera, and that could tick EJ off enough to take the company back. He’d need some help to do so, though. Help that maybe Wei Shin could provide… if he was grateful enough to have his dead son returned to him.

The icing on the cake was Redditor u/HouseofFive’s idea for Li’s return: “I want him to appear by kicking down the cardboard cutout, and standing in the same pose.”
