Very Shocking Update: Excited Emmerdale fans demand legend’s return amid ‘amazing’ new Robert story
Emmerdale fans have been left feeling all nostalgic after learning Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) is going to be taking over Butler’s Farm. The news was confirmed in yesterday’s episode,
as Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) told Robert that he’d like him to become the new tenant farmer now Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) had officially sold her share. Robert was hesitant at first,
as he knew it would cause a lot of drama between him and the Dingles. However, when Joe mentioned putting someone else in Butler’s instead, Robert hated the thought of his family legacy being destroyed.
He changed his mind and is now preparing to move in with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
While Robert is looking forward to what lies ahead, things couldn’t be more awkward for Aaron. He chose to side with Robert when Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) learnt the news, and is now being ignored by some of his family over the betrayal.
That aside, Moira being replaced by Robert is a hugely exciting time for the show, as the Sugden clan was the original farming family when the show was first created.
A new era
Following the news Robert is going to take over Butler’s Farm, readers of our Metro Soaps Facebook page began pondering over the possibility of another Sugden character returning as Robert creates a new empire.
Kirsty was among the group of people hoping that Andy Sugden, played by Kelvin Fletcher, will return and help Robert.
‘Andy’s return and Joes demise!’, Kirsty said.
The hope of Andy coming back to the village was echoed on X as well. This user wrote: ‘With the Sugdens now going to be running Butlers does this mean Andy could be coming home #emmerdale’.
Yas added: ‘Do like this new photo but also bring back Andy about time he was back.’
Plenty of Robron fans are really looking forward to this new story.
Jacqueline said: ‘They’ll do great team RobRon!’, while Em simply said ‘This is amazing!’.

Even Andy Sugden star Kelvin Fletcher had something to say about Robert and Aaron’s move!
Over on Emmerdale’s Instagram page, he reacted to it by saying ‘Love this’, which of course prompted people on the social media platform to respond and hope Andy will come back to help Robert.
Whether this actually happens remains to be seen, as star Kelvin Fletcher is very busy running his own farm with his family in the Peak District – so it’s possible we won’t see Andy just yet!
‘This return to the farm’s roots is a powerful moment, echoing the early drama that unfolded when Annie Sugden and her sons, Jack and Joe, farmed the land’, producer of the show Laura Shaw said as she discussed this change.
‘Taking over the tenancy, grandson Robert wants to do his best and make his dad proud. With his loyal partner Aaron, they are ready for this new chapter and committed to making the farm thrive.
‘Farming remains a vital presence in Emmerdale, providing a daily dose of excitement and fresh air for our audience.’
