Already exhausted with baby Harper still in hospital, Shona snaps at Lily over a minor request. David gently suggests she needs a break, unaware that Jodie is poised to weaponise that vulnerability. When Shona mentions visiting their father again, Jodie smoothly diverts her toward a night out instead.

At the bistro, she turns the screws further. After Shona confronts Carl for flirting, Jodie plays the wounded innocent, encouraging her sister to keep drinking. Then comes the masterstroke: she summons David to take his intoxicated wife home.

With Shona safely in bed, Jodie persuades David to stay up with her, watching a film and sharing confidences. To her, it’s positioning. To him, it’s kindness.

The next morning, David admits to Nick that something about Jodie doesn’t sit right. And viewers soon see why when she is caught rifling through a trinket box and retrieving a familiar locket.

While the Platts grapple with deception, Todd is fighting a much more personal battle – one that becomes harder and harder to hide.

Sarah and George attempt to lift his spirits with drinks and a takeaway, but the mood shifts when Todd spots multiple missed calls from Theo. Panic replaces pleasure as he retreats to listen.

Money troubles only tighten the vice. Wracked with guilt after Summer’s finances are drained, Todd secures an advance from George and shares it with her. Yet moments later, he deceives James Bailey into paying for brunch by pretending he’s forgotten his card.

When Theo later confronts him, the humiliation is chilling. Todd is handed a tenner and ordered to buy tea – with a receipt. Billy’s photograph is coldly thrown away as Theo leaves.

The control escalates when Theo finds evidence of a takeaway. He mocks the calorie count and demands Todd go for a run. On the street, James watches Todd limp past, unease written all over his face.

Back home, another cruel blow awaits: Billy’s picture has vanished.

As if the emotional torment isn’t enough, Todd soon emerges clutching his neck in pain. Theo privately revels in the mark he has left behind – a visible sign of ownership.

Public humiliation follows. Annie threatens George with legal action over a will, Jake Windass taunts Todd about the love bite, and finally the pressure explodes. Already fragile, Todd lashes out.

Then, in horrifying scenes, he collapses.

Bernie’s secret threatens to erupt

Elsewhere, Ryan recognises electrician Mal Roper and is stunned to learn he’s working for Roy. Bernie begs him to keep quiet about their hotel encounter, but the truth inches closer when Gemma urges her mum to confess to Dev before it’s too late.

Mal, meanwhile, is in no hurry to disappear. Spotting Dev and Bernie together, he lies to Roy that the flat needs a full rewire – all to extend his stay.

It’s a ticking time bomb with humiliation written all over it.

Carl’s rage sparks terrifying consequences

Tensions flare at the Chariot Square when Ryan orders QR code stickers to be displayed. Carl refuses, Ronnie backs Ryan, and when the stickers turn up in the bin, Ryan sacks him on the spot.

Furious and reckless, Carl begins plotting revenge – one that could put countless lives at risk.

Debbie’s prison nightmare worsens

And behind bars, Debbie Webster faces fresh misery. She’s assigned a helper, but horror floods her face when she recognises Lou Michaelis.

With enemies close and dignity stripped away, Debbie’s situation feels increasingly desperate. A glimmer of hope arrives when Adam reveals he plans to argue that her recent TIA should earn her a reduced sentence.
