We’re all for traditions here at Metro, but Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) holding a grudge against his brother in the exact same month for three years

in a row is definitely an odd one. The man is consistent, we’ll give him that. His new trend of being annoyed at his sibling continued this week, when scenes aired

that saw Cain make a discovery about Caleb Miligan (William Ash) and his wife.

He’s consistent, we’ll give him that

Cain has a million and one things on his mind right now, so the last thing he needs is someone making his life worse. That’s exactly what Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) did in today’s episode though, as she arrived to reveal a secret to Cain.

Ruby told him that she called the police about the bodies on Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) farmland, because she had suspicions refugee Anya was buried there. Ruby was correct, but didn’t know when she called the police that another body had been hidden on Butler’s as well.

Ruby said that she had no idea it was Moira’s land, but this went in one of Cain’s ears and out the other. As far as he was concerned, Caleb only organised for his expensive solicitor to represent Moira because him and Ruby were feeling guilty about calling the police.

After watching these scenes on ITVX (the episode airs tonight on ITV1), a fan of the ITV soap took to social media platform X to point out a well-spotted pattern when it comes to Caleb, Cain and Ruby.

‘I just want to point out this is the third February in a row where Cain had a grudge against Caleb and Ruby’, they wrote.

And do you know what? They’re absolutely right.

What happened in February 2025 between Cain and Caleb?

Last year, Cain and Caleb played a part in the limo crash storyline. Prior to the terrifying ordeal that saw a limo get stuck in the middle of a frozen lake, multiple Emmerdale residents were planning on heading out for the evening. A handful of male characters (and Mandy Dingle) went in one limo, while a number of female residents (and Liam Cavanagh) went in the other.

It was the vehicle that had Liam and the women inside that ended up getting stuck on the lake. The other was involved in a crash, but Mandy and the men came out of it relatively unscathed.

The limo almost hitting an oncoming lorry only happened because Caleb and Cain were arguing, and Caleb was distracted while driving. The siblings were fighting because Caleb had just found out about Cain sleeping with Ruby in November 2024.

The two characters having sex in the garage is a moment we’d really rather forget tbh, so let’s just move on.

What happened in February 2024 between Cain and Caleb?

A year before the limo crash, Cain and Caleb once again found reason to fight with each other, as Ruby exposed Caleb’s affair with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) in front of everyone.

Tracy was married to Cain’s son Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), so it wasn’t really a surprise that he decided to disown her and his brother.

We know you’re curious but in February 2023, Cain actually made amends with Caleb.

A shock, we know!

We’ll no doubt return to this piece this time next year, with news that Cain has, once again, found a reason to argue with his brother in February 2027.
