Hot Shocking Update!! Coronation Street’s Steve makes big decision he might regret ahead of major death

Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) had a difficult choice to make in Coronation Street this evening, and he may come to regret his decision. Earlier this week,

Steve made the horrifying discovery that dad Jim McDonald had forged his signature and made him his guarantor, leaving Steve saddled with £1800 of unpaid rent to deal with.

Keen to make Jim pay up, Steve attempted to track him down, only to discover that Jim was in hospital. Tonight, Steve was in two minds about whether or not to visit his dad.

While Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) was of the opinion that everyone deserved a second chance, especially when they’re ill, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) argued that Jim had caused enough trouble and didn’t deserve Steve’s efforts.

However, it was Amy Barlow’s (Elle Mulvaney) advice that ultimately helped Steve come to a decision. She told him that, while Jim didn’t deserve his forgiveness, Steve owed it to himself not to have regrets.

Unfortunately, it seemed fate was against his decision to go and see his dad, when he realised that his car battery was flat.

Thankfully, Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) was on hand to help him out and the pair arrived at the hospital not long later.

While sat in the car park, Steve admitted that he still wasn’t sure if he actually wanted to go inside, explaining to Ben that he knew it may be his last chance, but that Jim would likely tell him lies that he would end up fixating on.

When Ben pointed out that only Steve could make the decision, he ultimately decided not to see his dad, and the pair headed back to the Rovers.

Unfortunately, Steve may have been right about this being his last chance to see his dad, as Jim is set to be killed off in upcoming episodes.

Jim McDonald is set to be killed off

The off-screen death comes 35 years after the character first appeared on our screens. During that time, he was involved in some violent and controversial storylines, including one that saw him hit wife Liz McDonald during an argument and another that resulted in him beating Jez Quigley to death.

His final storyline on the show faced backlash from fans, as the character conned Liz into believing that their lost child was alive.

Later this week, Steve is set to miss a call from Jim, before later informing Cassie that he wants to forget about his dad and focus on the family he has around him.

Will Steve get the chance to say a final goodbye to his dad, or will he miss out on the opportunity and come to regret his choice?
