In an update, General Hospital star Carolyn Hennesy, who portrays Diane, shared that she’s recovering from one surgery and preparing for another after breaking her leg.

The Emmy winner let fans know that her first operation went smoothly and asked for “thoughts and prayers” as she faces the next stage of her recovery — all while maintaining the sharp wit and optimism that made her one of daytime’s most beloved personalities.

On the Mend

In the October 28 episode of GH, viewers last saw Diane advising Carly (Laura Wright) and Michael (Rory Gibson) about their legal troubles.

However, off-screen, actress Hennesy has faced her own unexpected challenge. The Emmy-winning performer revealed that she broke her leg and has already undergone one surgery, with a second scheduled for later this week.

“First surgery went well and the second surgery is scheduled for Thursday,” she shared on Instagram Stories, alongside a photo of herself standing in a field of tulips. “All thoughts and prayers are welcome. ”

Fans quickly flooded her comments and social media with well-wishes, and when some asked how she got hurt, Hennesy couldn’t resist adding a touch of humor. “Use your imagination! Top three get shoutouts!” she joked, proving she’s as quick-witted as ever.

The actress first shared the news of her injury on October 28, explaining that it forced her to postpone her cabaret show at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato.

“Hello all,” she wrote, “due to unforeseen circumstances, like a broken leg, my performance at Vibrato on November 5 has been postponed.” She reassured fans that the show will go on — just not on that date — promising, “We’ll git ‘er done, just not on the 5th.”
