General Hospital spoilers and updates show that Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) has recently shared an update about her brain scan and a new fashion project she’s starting with Emme Rylan (ex-Lulu Spencer).

Currently, Maxie is off-screen in a coma as Storms is taking a break from the show, leaving many fans eagerly waiting for her return.

Kirsten’s Move to Tennessee Was One Reason For Her Time Off, But Not All There Is To It

Although Storms had earlier cited her relocation from California to Tennessee with her daughter as the cause for her break, the situation is a bit more complex.

On Instagram, Storms disclosed that in January 2025, she had a new scan because of some symptoms her doctors suspected could be related to her brain.

Fans may recall that Storms underwent brain surgery in 2021 after a large cyst divided in two, which clarifies why her medical team felt it necessary to investigate her recent health issues.

The neurosurgeon for Storm had been keeping an eye on the cyst he left on her brain after taking out the one that was causing her problems. When the scan in January 2025 was done, an aneurysm was discovered on the right side of Storm’s brain.

Kirsten Had Other Reasons For Her Move As Well

Storms mentioned that the “scan revealed a new, but *very small*, squatter cyst on her brain stem, prompting her to realize she needed to make some changes in her life quickly. “For my own personal reasons, it was crucial for me to no longer live in Los Angeles.

The main reason for the move was Harper Barash (her daughter with Brandon Barash (Johnny Zacchara), her ex-husband).  But a lot of it was also about my physical and mental health, as well as my overall happiness,” Storms explained.

Storms also noted that a few days after her hospital discharge, someone published a blog post alleging that she “tried to ‘unalive’” herself. This was false, and Storms was baffled as to why someone would fabricate such a story.

Kirsten And Emme Rylan’s New Business

Fortunately, something positive emerged from all this as Storms has turned her passion for crocheting into a way to manage her anxiety, serving as her own type of cognitive behavioral therapy.

Kirsten Storms and Emme Rylan eventually teamed up to create a cardigan collection; their sweater collaboration, named “KickinIt”, offers a range of styles that many GH fans will want to explore.
