The shake-up launches with the highly anticipated Corydale crossover, airing on January 5 at 8:00pm after both soaps—marking the first-ever full crossover event between Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Weatherfield meets the Dales, and chaos is guaranteed.

Christmas on the Cobbles: Tears, Secrets and Suspicion

Before the new year begins, however, Coronation Street still has unfinished business in 2025—and it’s far from festive cheer.

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without rows in the Rovers or heartbreak behind closed doors, and this year is no exception. Following last year’s emotional farewell to Gail Platt after an astonishing 50 years on screen, fans will be moved once more as Gail “returns” via a heartfelt video message for the Platt family. It may not be a full comeback, but for long-time viewers, it’s a poignant reminder of a true Corrie legend.

Elsewhere, tensions are far less cosy. Becky Swain has firmly embedded herself at Number Six following Carla Connor and Lisa Swain’s painful breakup. Her presence is impossible to ignore—and impossible for Carla to tolerate. As Becky grows increasingly tactile with Lisa, unresolved feelings resurface, and when Roy Cropper reveals that Carla never checked into her hotel in Lanzarote, alarm bells begin to ring. Lisa knows something isn’t right—and her instincts may be correct.

Todd Grimshaw’s Silent Struggle

One of the most heartbreaking storylines unfolding this Christmas centres on Todd Grimshaw. Once confident and self-assured, Todd is now a shadow of himself under Theo Silverton’s controlling behaviour. Mentions of Todd’s past crushes trigger explosive reactions from Theo, leaving Todd constantly walking on eggshells.

Hope arrives in the form of Billy Mayhew, who begins to suspect that all is not well behind closed doors. As Christmas approaches, viewers will be praying for a miracle—and for Todd to finally be seen, heard, and saved.

Eva Price’s Dangerous Secret

Eva Price finds herself on the brink as it becomes clear she’s hiding a major secret. In an emotional confession to Adam Barlow, Eva finally opens up—but secrets on the Street rarely stay buried. With Maggie Driscoll overhearing the truth, the question becomes not if the secret will come out, but when—and who will be destroyed in the process.

Maggie’s involvement is deeply unsettling. If she chooses to use what she knows, Christmas could be ruined for more than one family.

Boxing Day Horror

Festive cheer turns to terror on Boxing Day when Evelyn Plummer discovers a local resident brutally attacked and left slumped in the corner shop. The shocking scene sends shockwaves through Weatherfield, raising urgent questions: Who has been hurt? And who is responsible?

With lives hanging in the balance, this storyline promises edge-of-your-seat suspense—and devastating consequences.

Wedding Bells… and Webster Chaos

As the New Year dawns, Debbie Webster prepares to marry Ronnie Bailey. It should be a joyful occasion—but Carl Webster’s presence casts a long shadow. When Ryan Connor realises Carl has changed the hotel’s bank account passwords, suspicion grows rapidly. Ryan begins connecting the dots, and Carl’s carefully constructed lies may finally unravel.

Justice, it seems, is closing in.

Carla Connor’s Heartbreaking Exit—and Sinister Twist

In early ITVX episodes, fans are left reeling as Carla Connor leaves Weatherfield, seemingly for good. Her breakup with Lisa Swain reaches a devastating conclusion, driven by Becky’s relentless interference and Lisa’s impossible choice between her relationship and her daughter, Betsy.

Heartbreak peaks as Carla removes her engagement ring—a moment that signals the end of an era. She leaves for a solo trip to Lanzarote, but worrying signs quickly emerge. Carla never checks into her hotel, and when Lisa receives a concerned text from Roy Cropper on Christmas Day, panic sets in.

Where is Carla? Has she chosen to walk away from Weatherfield forever—or is something far more sinister at play?

Carl Webster’s Comeuppance Finally Begins

One of Corrie’s longest-running frustrations finally explodes this festive season as Carl Webster’s hit-and-run secret resurfaces. Tyrone Dobbs, left seriously injured earlier this year, still doesn’t know who nearly killed him—until a surprising piece of evidence emerges.

Drone footage captured for a school project by Liam Connor appears to show Carl getting into the car moments before the incident. It’s an extraordinary twist—and potentially the key to Carl’s downfall.

Show boss Kate Brooks has teased that the storyline will “bubble and explode” over Christmas, and fans can finally expect justice. As Tyrone actor Alan Halsall has said, the frustration and anger remain raw—and closure is desperately needed.

A Christmas to Remember

With schedule changes, crossover events, emotional exits, shocking discoveries, and long-awaited justice, Coronation Street’s Christmas and New Year 2025 promises to be unforgettable. The cobbles are braced for carnage—and viewers wouldn’t have it any other way.
