Bad news for Emmerdale fans as hopes of a Kev comeback just shattered
Emmerdale fans were absolutely obsessed with unhinged villain Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), who rocked up in the village as Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley)
prison-husband and made it his mission to sabotage his future with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller). From heartfelt karaoke love confessions to ridiculous hostage situations, Kev really gave us everything.
Despite his exit from the show following his break-up with Robert, fans were hopeful he may still return, especially after he revealed his connection to another villager.
Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) was shocked when Kev revealed that he was Lewis Barton’s (Bradley Riches) biological father, and though he was keen to connect with him, Nicola warned him off.
Unfortunately, it seems that Kev won’t be back in the Dales any time soon, as actor Chris Coghill has announced an exciting new role.
Taking to Instagram, the actor shared a promotional image for a film called Synthesized. The picture sees the actor leaning against a car and sporting a full beard.
In the caption, Chris wrote: ‘World Premiere alert. Friday 27th March. Home cinema. God’s Country.’
Chris plays Odin, and he isn’t the only soap star in the cast, with former Coronation Street icon Sacha Parkinson, who played Sian Powers in the ITV soap, taking on the role of Valkyrie.
Fans were quick to take to the comments of Chris’ post, questioning him about his Emmerdale future.
‘Are you ever coming back? Team kev,’ one wrote, while another added: ‘Congratulations! Back to Emmerdale next, please.’
‘Come back to emmerdale,’ another said, while a fourth echoed: ‘When is King Kev coming back?’
Emmerdale co-star Bradley Riches also popped up to show his support, writing: ‘PROUD OF U.’
Bradley recently spoke to Metro about Lewis and Kev’s story, telling us that it ‘came out of nowhere’.
‘Chris came in as part of the Robron saga. We had little scenes here and there and their characters just got each other, for some reason. They felt seen by each other in an odd way. He’s blunt but Lewis never got offended by anything he said because Lewis got where he was coming from. They just understood each other.
‘Then it developed into he’s actually my biological dad and Lewis never found out. It’s really interesting because it’s one of those things where we’re polar opposites but if it was a Venn diagram there’d be so much crossing over as well. It was really interesting and dynamic to play with.’
He went on to enthuse about his experience working alongside Chris.
‘Chris is bonkers, he’s kind, he’s all these amazing things. Working with him was an absolute joy as well.’
On the fact that Lewis never found out the truth about his dad, Bradley added: ‘I think it’s cool because now it’s like, will Kev ever come back? Maybe the truth will appear one day, who knows?’
We still have our fingers crossed that we haven’t seen the last of Kev!
