Newest Update!! Dramatic and sinister flashback in Coronation Street has new murder discovery
All eyes are on Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) in Coronation Street soon, as it becomes clear she needs to go to the top of the list of prime suspects
in Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) murder investigation. Shortly after Theo was killed, DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) and DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts)
began questioning those who interacted with Theo the most while he was living in Weatherfield.
Was it Summer Spellman?
After Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) was taken to the police station to be interrogated as Lisa found his shirt that had Theo’s blood on it.
Things looked a bit dodgy for George because he failed to immediately tell Swain that he went for a walk on the night Theo died. Fortunately, he was let go due to the fact Lisa didn’t have enough evidence to prove George committed the crime.
Next was Gary Windass (Mikey North), who had reason to want Theo dead after being friends with someone who hid the fact he was abusing his partner. Once again, suspicions started to rise as Gary told Lisa and Kit that he didn’t have access to the CCTV footage from the night because the system at the builder’s yard deletes clips on a weekly basis.
Gary lied to them because he needed to hide proof that he smashed up Theo’s van. Thanks to an alibi from Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), Gary was let go.
Next week, Kit tells Todd that they’re closing in on Theo’s killer, but his words make Summer shift uncomfortably.
Meanwhile, as George tidies up, he accidentally knocks Summer’s bag over and finds her journal. As he snoops, George is horrified to discover a page that describes putting a gun to Theo’s head.
In the week, after Lisa takes Summer in for questioning, Todd defends her to the detective. However, as George quizzes Summer about Theo’s death, a flashback reveals what he saw on that night.
Summer furiously confronts George over his accusations, suggesting that he was actually the one who killed Theo.
Towards the end of the week, George tells Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) that he’s told the police about Summer’s lies. As Christina comments about how it won’t be long until the police find her, Summer panics and slips out of the door.
Outside, Todd bumps into Summer carrying a bag. She explains that she’s worried the police are going to arrest her for Theo’s murder, and intends to return to her university in America.
The possibility of Summer being in the clear – or getting away with it, potentially – increases as she remembers a witness who could back up her alibi.
But will they help her – or is Summer going to run out of time?
‘I think when people are pushed to that point, it’s interesting to see what they will do to survive’, star Harriet Bibby said.
‘It’s no secret that Theo was very threatening, he even said that he was going to bury Summer if she got in his way, so there could have been a moment where she felt like it was either her or him.’
