NO MORE SILENCE: TIM’S EXPLOSIVE SHOWDOWN WITH TRISHA LEAVES WEATHERFIELD STUNNED
Coronation Street has seen Tim Metcalfe have a long-overdue confrontation with Trisha Marlow over her historic grooming of him. In recent scenes, the cabbie helped Will Driscoll reframe
his relationship with predatory Megan Walsh as abusive, prompting the teen to talk to the police. Amid Will’s ordeal, Tim reconsidered losing his virginity to Trisha
when he was 14 and she was 20 and had been looking to confront her over her actions. In tonight’s episode, Tim attempted to contact Trisha to have a conversation
about what happened years prior. When she wouldn’t return his texts, he received the support of his wife Sally and decided to show up at Trisha’s work
With Trisha being none the wiser about Tim’s desire to clear the air, the cabbie insisted they needed to talk.
“You need to hear me out. I deserve that much at least,” he said. “When we got together all those years ago, I thought that all my Christmas had come at once, you know. There’s me, some spotty little Herbert, with this fit, older, gorgeous girl. Couldn’t believe my luck.”
Trisha mistakenly thought that Tim was trying to make a move on her, telling him: “That was a long time ago.”
“Let me finish,” Tim said. “I need to say this and you need to hear me.”
“The thing is, I’ve only just started to realise this, but what you did to me was wrong,” he continued.
A shocked Trisha said that Tim was “the one chasing after [her]” and “bunking off school” so they could be together.
“I was 14. I was a child,” Tim replied. “You should’ve been with somebody your own age, not sleeping with a kid,” he added. “It wasn’t right. It should never have happened.”
Trisha was taken aback and protested: “You’re making it sound like… like I abused you.”
“You took advantage of me. You used me. And no matter how you try to dress it up and justify it to yourself, it was abuse,” Tim said.
When Trisha pointed out that Tim turned out “alright” despite his claims of abuse, the taxi driver said that he was doing fine, but that it hadn’t always been the case.
“For a long time, I wasn’t right and I did things that I regret,” he said.
“I’m sorry but I’m not prepared to take responsibility for any mistakes you might have made years after we knew each other,” Trisha replied and hurried back to work.
“Just look after yourself eh, Tim?” she said as she left.
Back at home, Tim opened up with Sally about meeting with Trisha. Sally was mad that Trisha wouldn’t apologise, but Tim reassured her: “It doesn’t matter. I don’t need her to apologise.”
“I know what happened between us, and that’s enough,” Tim added, saying that he wouldn’t been able to face Trisha without Sally’s help.
“I’m proud of you, Timothy Metcalfe. And I love you,” Sally said.
Meanwhile, Megan was arrested after Will’s testimony about their relationship, with the teen breaking down in his dad Ben’s arms in the final scenes.
