Shocking news: Unexpected murder confession rocks Coronation Street as family falls apart
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (Thursday, May 14) Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on YouTube and ITVX.
As if the Driscoll’s haven’t had enough to deal with after Will’s (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) grooming ordeal, Maggie (Pauline McLynn) has dropped an enormous bombshell that has rocked Ben (Aaron McCusker) to his core.
Viewers may recall the special flashback episode that aired in 2025, revealing the major secret that Maggie had been keeping for years.
It transpired that Maggie and her husband – Ben’s dad – had been rowing at the top of the stairs, and Maggie had pushed him down, killing him.
The scene had tragically been witnessed by Ben’s brother Finlay, who has since cut contact with the family. The only person he has kept in contact with is Ben’s ex-wife, Melanie.
Unfortunately for Maggie, Finlay confided the truth in Melanie, who used it to blackmail her into allowing Will to move to Scotland with her.

To make matters even worse, sinister predator Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) overheard their conversation, and made it clear to Maggie that she also knew the truth.
In tonight’s episode, Maggie received an unexpected call from Megan in prison, and it was clear there was just one thing on her mind.
As Megan threatened to expose Maggie’s secret if she didn’t convince Will to drop the abuse charges against her, Maggie realised that it was time to come clean herself.
Sitting Ben down, she explained everything, and it is safe to say that Ben was stunned.

You’ll have to tune into the episode to see exactly how he reacts, but we can tell you that he doesn’t take it well – especially when he finds out who was in on the secret.
Poor Ben has had a lot to deal with in terms of childhood secrets in the past few weeks, having only recently discovered that his biological dad wasn’t who he thought.
It transpired that Maggie had had an affair with Jim McDonald, and he had actually fathered Ben – making Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) his half-brother.
How will he cope with this newest murder revelation, and how will the family get past it?
