Breaking news: Virgin River Season 8 Begins Production
There’s another trip to Virgin River on the horizon.
Netflix has announced that Season 8 of the comforting romantic drama is now filming, bringing viewers back to the picturesque Northern California town and its beloved residents.
The upcoming season will continue Mel and Jack’s story after their emotional Season 7 journey into marriage and parenthood. Following years of setbacks and heartbreak, Mel finally became a mother — but the couple’s happiness was quickly complicated when their baby boy was born with a serious heart condition.

Rather than focusing only on romance, Season 8 will dive into the realities of raising a child with medical challenges.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith says the series will explore how the situation affects the couple emotionally and physically as they try to adjust to life as parents.
Alexandra Breckenridge shared that she’s excited for fans to finally see Mel embrace motherhood after such a long wait.

At the same time, she hopes the characters eventually experience a little peace and normalcy.
“I’d love for Mel to be doing some gardening and cooking,” she said.
With 10 new episodes on the way, fans can expect more romance, emotional twists, and heartfelt small-town moments when Virgin River returns.
