Netflix’s Virgin River Season 8 Is Now in Production
Virgin River is officially back in production, but the next season may be the show’s most emotional yet.
Netflix confirmed that Season 8 is currently filming and shared a first-look image of stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson together on set.
The upcoming season picks up after Season 7’s dramatic finale, where Mel and Jack welcomed their long-awaited baby boy — only to discover he was born with a dangerous heart condition.

Now, the couple must navigate parenthood under enormous pressure while their son receives treatment from a world-famous pediatric surgeon who also happens to be Mel’s ex.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith says the new episodes will explore the strain the situation places on Mel and Jack’s relationship as they try to survive the challenges of first-time parenting.

Despite the emotional storyline ahead, Breckenridge hopes the couple eventually finds happiness and stability.
“I’m hoping that at some point they get to some kind of normalcy,” she admitted.
Season 8 will feature 10 episodes, with more updates expected as filming continues.
