Julie Chrisley Says She Has a Lung Condition After Prison Stay

Julie Chrisley is alleging her stay in prison left her with an ongoing illness.

Almost two months after the Chrisley Knows Best star and her husband Todd Chrisley were released from prison due to President Donald Trump pardoning their tax evasion and fraud convictions, the 52-year-old said that she developed an ailment during her 28-month confinement at Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

“I have a lung condition from being in prison,” she explained during the July 30 episode of the Chrisley Confessions podcast, claiming that she was breathing “asbestos.”

The reality star admitted that fans may have already taken note of her issue.

“You will probably notice me at certain times,” she explained, “trying to get a breath.”

However, Todd noted that Julie hasn’t been formally diagnosed, saying she had an upcoming appointment with a pulmonologist. As he put it, “That’s something we’re going to have to address right now.”

In response to Julie’s claims, the Federal Bureau of Prisons emphasized in a statement to US Weekly that their mission is to operate facilities that are “safe, secure, and human.”

“We take seriously our duty to protect the individuals entrusted in our custody,” the statement read. “As well as maintaining the safety of our employees and the community. Human treatment of men and women is our top priority.”

E! News has reached out to FMC Lexington as well as the Federal Bureau of Prisons regarding Julie’s allegation but has not yet heard back.

Since their release, Julie and Todd—who share kids Chase Chrisley, 29, Savannah Chrisley, 27, Grayson Chrisley, 19 and Chloe Chrisley, 12—have made a point to detail their time spent in prison changed them.
