Death Becomes Her: Days of Our Lives’ Kristen Gets the Ultimate Revenge On Sophia

We knew Sophia’s story couldn’t have a happy ending on Days of Our Lives, but we were at least hoping it wouldn’t result in her death. But from the second Kristen teamed up with her, we had a sinking feeling it was setting up Sophia’s exit — we just didn’t think it would lead to her murder!

Sophia has done a lot of terrible things, but it didn’t take a psychologist to see that she was a deeply troubled, unbalanced teen. And it didn’t help that she wasn’t taking the medication that might have made a serious difference in her mental state. In the end, she was just too obsessed with making Holly and Johnny pay for destroying her life to see how dangerous getting mixed up with the DiMeras in general — and Kristen in particular — was.

Days Outside, Kristen bashes Sophia on the head with a rock

Kristen cooked up a plot where Sophia would kill Johnny, then fake her own death and flee Salem forever. She claimed to have forgiven the teen for getting Rachel mixed up in a scheme that, in part, helped land her back in Bayview. But nothing went exactly as expected, as recapped here. For one thing, Sophia decided to eschew Kristen’s relatively straight-forward notion of shooting Johnny for a far more complicated plot that was doomed to fail.

But when Sophia met Kristen on the bridge later that evening, the teen allowed her manic mentor to believe that she’d used the gun — which they tossed in the river — to kill Johnny. Sophia then demanded payment so that she could fake her own suicide and skip town for Paris. Instead, Kristen picked up a rock, bashed Sophia in the head and had her associates toss the girl into the river. “I told you revenge was sweet,” the DiMera vixen said, not a bit of regret in her voice.

Days of our Lives Spoilers, May 1: Kristen takes care of her Sophia problem...but what about Johnny?

Is this end of Sophia forever? If we’re being honest, probably not. If anything, we’re getting serious Nick Fallon vibes from her (especially with the body dumping) and can’t help but suspect she’ll be the next troubled young person who just keeps coming back. But it certainly seems like Sophia’s dead for now and Rachel Boyd’s run has come to a close.

Boyd, of course, took over for Sophia when original portrayer Madelyn Kientz left. At the time, Sophia was definitely a schemer looking to swipe Tate away from her one-time best friend, Holly, but she hadn’t yet gone off the deep end into full villain mode.

Boyd ushered Sophia through a pregnancy, birth and complete breakdown — which just led to the next stage of her obsession! She was committed to Bayview, pretended she was mute, befriended and used Rachel and tried ruining both Johnny and Holly’s lives. Again.
