BREAKING NEWS: Coronation Street drops huge clue to upcoming death – did you spot it?

This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (Monday, March 16) Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on YouTube and ITVX.

Coronation Street has been teasing viewers ever since its mysterious flashforward episode earlier this month, which revealed that five locals are at risk of dying.

In the episode, we were given a glimpse ahead to April, where Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is left traumatised after finding a body.

It was then confirmed that the characters at risk of meeting their maker are Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) and Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon).

A throwaway line may have been some major foreshadowing

In tonight’s episode, Corrie seemed to be laying down some hints in a subtle scene that may have foreshadowed which of these five villains will be the body Betsy finds.

Viewers will know that George Shuttleworth’s (Tony Maudsley) business is struggling, thanks to a lawsuit from a former client.

The woman, Annie, was left horrified to discover that her mother had left a significant sum of money to George after she passed, as she had really appreciated the effort he put into giving her husband the perfect send-off.

However, Annie believed that George must have conned her elderly mother, and planned to take him to court over the issue.

To make matters worse, rumours and reports of the case spread like wildfire across social media and the local news, which caused Shuttleworth’s to lose customers left and right.

Unbeknown to George and employee Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), one person spreading some of the malicious rumours is actually Todd’s abusive ex, Theo.

Things aren’t going well at Shuttleworth’s

In tonight’s episode, Theo heads to Shuttleworth’s, feigning concern for their current situation and asking if there is anything he can do to help.

He is caught off guard when Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) jokes that he could ‘try dying’.

Of course, she means it in the sense of drumming up new business, but Theo is clearly disturbed.

Besides, if she, or George, or any of Todd’s other friends knew the truth about their relationship, they would probably have similar thoughts to Christina.

And with Theo in the firing line to be the dead body in April, could this throwaway comment actually be foreshadowing what is ahead?

Theo was abusing Todd Grimshaw

Theo had been abusing Todd verbally, physically, psychologically and financially for months, until a particularly terrifying evening that saw Theo pull out a knife.

When Todd told him to ‘put him out of his misery’, Theo left, and the next day called it quits on their relationship.

So far, the only person to have uncovered the truth about the abuse in their relationship has been Billy Mayhew, but he was quickly silenced by Theo, who left him to die in the Corriedale crash.

Could Theo’s abuse and his role in Billy’s death be set to come out, sealing his fate as the body Betsy finds?
