It’s an incredibly exciting time for Coronation Street stalwart, Jack P Shepherd, after he and wife Hanni announced to the world that they’re expecting a baby this year.

Only six months after the loved-up couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Manchester Cathedral, the two took to Instagram to share an adorable reel of

them dressed to the nines, while mum-to-be Hanni cradled her growing baby bump.

Certainly ballsy…

The two met when Hanni worked as both a researcher and storyliner on Corrie, with the two beginning to date back in 2017. Jack later proposed to her in June, 2024, as the two shared a safari holiday in Tanzania, before they officially tied the knot the following year.

The post was flooded with lovely comments from fans and co-stars alike, with Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) writing: ‘Congratulations beautiful people’, Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster) added: ‘Congratulations darling’, while Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor) wrote: ‘Congratulations guys!!! So happy for you both.’

‘Congratulations!!! so happy for the pair you’ said Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs), with Sally Carman-Duttine (Abi Webster) adding: ‘How very lovely! Congratulations!’

David Jr.?

Taking to his On The Sofa podcast alongside co-hosts Colson Smith and Ben Price, Jack revealed that while he and his wife have chosen not to find out the sex of their baby, they have begun considering baby names, with Jack highlighting a ‘funny’ suggestion he recently received.

‘It was suggested, I actually thought it would be funny…David. David P Shepherd. Don’t you think that would be f**king brilliant? The balls, the ballsy-ness!’

Adding to the suggested name, he joked: ‘Even better, David Jr.’

Piling on, Craig and Ben suggested that the baby receive ‘P’ as a middle name, with Jack’s middle name, Peter, long having been referenced in his stage name, before humorously suggesting ‘Davina’, should the baby be a little girl.

Talking further about the incredibly difficult name-picking process, Jack said: ‘No, you avoid picking baby names based on people you don’t like.’

After the idea of naming the baby after a film character came up, Jack offered: ‘Yeah, I don’t think we’ve had discussions or it has to be from a film. I don’t think we’ve had that. You sort of just say names and throw them around.’

‘I mean, you do what everyone does. You google ‘baby names.”

While Jack eagerly anticipates the arrival of his new bundle of joy, on-screen, his alter-ego, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) recently welcomed daughter Harper alongside wife Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), following the cataclysmic events of Corriedale.

The two had endured a troublesome pregnancy when a scan revealed a mass on their babies neck. An operation would be necessary, which posed grave risk to both Shona and the baby, though both pulled through the terrifying situation.

The birth coincided with the emergence of Shona’s sinister sister, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), who’s insidious schemes have permeated the entire Platt household, as she works to take everything she feels she deserves from her long-lost sister…including David.

While David seems to have the measure of Jodie, confiding that he’s creeped out by her behaviour, she’s continued to wrap her tendrils around the family.
