Newest Update!! Emmerdale’s Cain faces radical cancer operation and even Sarah is worried
This is quite possibly the most vulnerable we’ve ever seen Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) – fighting a fight he’s not guaranteed to win.
Cain recently learned that he has pretty aggressive prostate cancer, meaning he’s looking at having to endure some pretty serious treatment.
And the worst part is he can’t even tell his wife Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), the only person in the world he wants to tell, because she’s currently in prison on a double murder charge.
Cain is navigating this strange new world he finds himself in and in no shock to anyone, he’s not handling it particularly well. He feels like his entire life is shattering and he doesn’t know what to do with himself.
Unsurprisingly, he’s struggling to control his emotions, and when he finally learns about Bear, he tries to strong-arm the old man into going to the police to help Moira.
Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) walks in on the middle of this and intervenes to rescue Bear.
Cain is later hit with seeing the headlines full of Moira’s murder charges and his reaction is to become even more determined to save his wife.
Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) is one person who knows what’s going on with Cain and knows better than anyone it’s a delicate situation. She gently tries to check in on him and his health, but Cain brushes it off and tells her the focus is Moira.
Sarah supports her Grumpy at his hospital appointment, where Cain is hit with more bad news – the consultant wants to perform a radical prostatectomy, and Sarah is left worried.
As Sarah leaves Cain to contemplate his next move, he struggles with the thought that he can’t do it without Moira. He screws up the leaflet about the treatment, suggesting he won’t go ahead with it. Will he bury his head in the sand and risk his own life to save Moira’s?
Whatever he does, we’ll be losing Cain as we know him, forever. Actor Jeff Hordley revealed to us that old Cain is gone, thanks to this awful cancer.
‘I think it will change him,’ he told us.
‘I think when something like this happens to you, your life suddenly has a different lens on it, a different filter on it. I think it will certainly take him into a different headspace. It’s definitely going to change him, for sure. I don’t think we’re going to have a return to the Cain of old, that’s for sure.’
